About the Event

Member of the British Empire Anna Lapwood will be returning to play an organ concert at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Friday, May 1, 2026.  Ms. Lapwood has taken the classical music world by storm over the last few years and has utilized social media platforms to bring the pipe organ back to the foreground of music.  Playing themes from How to Train Your Dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The DaVinci Code has impressed audiences that the pipe organ can not only play the classical works long associated with it but also modern compositions, thrilling audiences of all ages.

For many years, the pipe organ industry has been predominantly headed by male organists, but Anna is on a mission to change that with her hashtag #playlikeagirl.  She was the first female in Magdalen College Oxford’s 560-year history to be awarded the Organ Scholarship.  As Organist of the Royal Albert Hall in London, Anna has now been regularly asked to incorporate the historic pipe organ there into many of the visiting main-line concerts with headliners such as Bonobo.

Ms. Lapwood’s performance at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall will highlight the continuing restoration of the Midmer-Losh pipe organ.  With 33,112 pipes, this instrument was designed to fill the enormous space of Boardwalk Hall with sound that can move the listener to their core.  Due to the massive undertaking by the Historic Organ Restoration Committee, the classical music world is once again being drawn to Atlantic City to experience the King of the King of Instruments! After a recent performance in Cologne, Germany drew 12,000 fans clambering for seats, Boardwalk Hall is up to the task to welcome as many of her world-wide fans as possible.  Historic Organ Restoration Committee has also partnered with Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall to produce this event bringing back a world-class concert artist to this completely unique feature of the venue.

The Tattler printed “Dispel all your preconceptions about what an organ recital might ordinarily entail.” Anna Lapwood’s concert promises to thrill the audience with new transcriptions by Ms. Lapwood in honor of playing the world-famous pipe organ.  Tickets are available now!
