Car Show and Silent Film!
July 17th, 2024 2-4:30pm, Silent Film at 5pm
We are excited to host a car show in the arena at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall! Starting at 2pm, the Hall will turn into a car show with antique cars from collectors from all around our area. This portion of the event will be free and open to the public.
Once the car show finishes at 4:30, the arena will host a silent film of the great action film, Douglas' Fairbanks THE BLACK PIRATE, accompanied by our friend, Brett Miller. It is one of the first times in many, many years a silent film will be accompanied in the hall. Tickets are available below.
The plot follows a nobleman that vows to avenge the death of his father at the hands of pirates. To this end, he infiltrates the pirate band. Acting in character, he is instrumental in the capture of a ship, but things are complicated when he finds that there is a young woman on board whom he wishes to protect. In 1993, The Black Pirate was included in the annual selection of 25 motion pictures to be added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. The film runs 90 minutes.
