Cheryl Van Ornam

Cheryl Van Ornam is the organist at First Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. She also teaches piano privately. Her master’s degree in Organ Performance and Church Music is from Northwestern University. She has given concerts on the Midmer-Losh organ at Boardwalk Hall (Atlantic City), First Congregational Church (Los Angeles), Busch Hall (Boston), and Bruton Parish Church (Colonial Williamsburg), among others. She has been active with the American Guild of Organists in Chicago, Boston and the Richmond, Virginia Chapter where she was the Dean and where she led the Bach Marathon for seven years.  Last year (2023), she and her siblings met in Japan and saw the villages in Okinawa and Iwakuni where their grandparents were born.  She and her husband are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
