We will conclude our 2017 series with our annual Christmas Spectacular. Showing off the versatility of the W.W. Kimball Opus 7073 we will have singing, dancing a Christmas Carol Sing Along as well as other various acts with national and local celebrities, our curatorial and outreach staff and many other friend of the organs serving up plenty of Chirstmas Cheer! Hopelessly in love with a woman working at MGM Studios, a clumsy man attempts to become a motion picture cameraman to be close to the object of his desire. The Cameraman was Keaton’s first film with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It is considered by fans and critics to be Keaton still in top form, and it was added to the National Film Registry in 2005 as being deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
When a store clerk (Harold Lloyd) organizes a publicity stunt, in which a friend climbs the outside of a tall building, circumstances force him to make the perilous climb himself. Safety Last was highly successful and critically hailed, and it cemented Lloyd’s status as a major figure in early motion pictures.
The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog is a 1927 British silent film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. A landlady suspects her new lodger is the madman killing women in London. The Lodger introduced themes that would run through much of Hitchcock’s later work: the innocent man on the run, hunted down by a self-righteous society.
Founded and based in Houston, Texas, Deux Voix represents one of the most cherished and historical combinations of musical sounds, and has transformed it to appeal to a wide range of audiences. We will welcome them here on November 8th for a free, open to the public noon recital.
